One benefit of being a lighting geek is going to Milan every two years. We know somebody’s gotta do it and report back.. So off we went to Euroluce!! This is the Biennial International Lighting exhibition dedicated to showing the latest in decorative and architectural lighting fixtures from industry leaders as well as smaller artists introducing their work. Euroluce, simply put, is Lighting Mecca, and is part of the Milan Furniture Fair. Translated into Italian it’s know as the: Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano. The Salone started in 1964 and is the global benchmark for the home furnishings sector. Every spring design acolytes from around the world feast on introductions of lighting, furniture and home accessories. The fair is a temperature gauge for the worldwide trends in design….what’s hot and what’s not can be fickle and honest, either you’re in or you’re out. Over the years the Salone, which is held at the 2 million square foot Rho Fiera Milano trade center, has flourished throughout the city of Milan into the cultural hotspots like the Brera district, Zona Tortuna, Via Savona, and the plush green courtyard’s of Spazio Rossana Orlandi.
