Chillin’ at the WestEdge Design Fair

Chillin’ at the WestEdge Design Fair

West Coast chill was the vibe throughout the Santa Monica Airport’s retired open-air Barker Hangar for the second installment of the WestEdge Design Fair. Founders Troy Hanson and Megan Reilly hosted a curated selection of independent local California designers, a few from the New York hipster scene, some international up and comers, and a diverse group of established brands that made the show comfortable and edgy. The hangar’s cozy indoor/outdoor experience felt more like a backyard BBQ than a stuffy trade show. The fair featured a color-changing cabana bar by Café Bella, exterior furniture by Wayfair, and gourmet hors d’oeuvres grilled by Kalamazoo Outdoor Grill. Entertaining us in between the opening night party for Heal the Bay and the A+D Museum’s cocktail soiree was Mr. Delicious himself – Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Troy Pennington, and the fabulous Kathryn Ireland. Here are a few of the booths and attractions that turned heads:   Cement Wallpaper Who says you need to live in an weathered urban loft or warehouse to have exposed cement walls? Resource Furniture didn’t. Their CONCRETEWALL cement-looking wallpaper is amazing! Custom printed, washable, non-flammable, and UV resistant this cement feels like the real thing down to the touch and scrape of a cinder block. With over 50 styles to choose from you can change your boring drywall into a textured authentic landscape. Elish Warlop – Hoop Sconce The Hoop Shade wall sconce we discovered was both playful and elegant – everything that a thin indirectly lit brass tube wall sconce could be. The energy-efficient LED lamps are thoughtfully concealed in a small cavity inside the brass tubing creating an...
